Working for Zero Waste Scotland, we provided a pilot pre-demolition audit for the deconstruction of one tower block, one medium rise block, and a community centre.

During this exercise we investigated the potential for the circular economy in North Lanarkshire, listing out all the local CE suppliers, analysing gaps, and identifying the quantity and types of new jobs created by a CE approach to demolition, rather than Business As usual.

We scheduled the materials arising, identifying the carbon emissions avoided, the cost impact, and the supply chains involved. We carried out a qualitative analysis of the social impact of working in this way.
